Amy Jean Klobuchar was born on May 25, 1960, in Plymouth, Minnesota. She grew up in a family deeply involved in public service; her father, Jim Klobuchar, was a well-known journalist and columnist for the Star Tribune, while her mother, Rose, was a teacher.
